Learning At Your Own Pace: Our Teaching Philosophy

Learning something new should feel exciting—not stressful.

Yet many people put off trying a new hobby because they're worried they won't be good enough, won't keep up or will feel embarrassed asking questions.

At RE Treats, we believe creativity grows best when you have the time and space to learn in a way that works for you.

Whether you've never picked up knitting needles before, haven't sewn since school or simply want to build your confidence, our teaching philosophy is simple:

There is no rush.

Some people understand a new technique immediately.

Others prefer to watch first, think about it, then try it themselves.

Some like lots of practice, while others are happy moving on after one successful attempt.

Every one of those approaches is completely normal.

There isn't one "right" way to learn to knit, sew, crochet or embroider. There is only the way that helps you feel confident.

That's why our workshops are designed to adapt to each individual rather than expecting everyone to learn at exactly the same speed.

One of the biggest advantages of learning at RE Treats is our small workshop sizes.

Instead of trying to keep up with a large class, you'll have plenty of opportunities to:

• Ask questions whenever you need to
• Watch demonstrations more than once
• Receive individual guidance
• Practise until you feel comfortable
• Take breaks if you need them

Learning becomes much less intimidating when you know help is always nearby.

One of the first things many beginners say is:

"I'm worried I'll get it wrong."

The truth is...

Everyone gets it wrong sometimes.

Experienced knitters drop stitches.

Dressmakers unpick seams.

Crocheters lose count.

Embroiderers stitch in the wrong place.

Making mistakes isn't a sign that you're failing.

It's simply part of learning something new.

Often those little mistakes become the moments where the biggest breakthroughs happen.

Confidence doesn't suddenly appear after one workshop.

It grows one small achievement at a time.

Finishing your first row.

Threading your sewing machine by yourself.

Learning a new embroidery stitch.

Completing your first project.

Each little success builds on the last until one day you realise you're doing things that once felt impossible.

That's why we celebrate progress rather than perfection.

Many online tutorials can leave you feeling as though you're racing to keep up.

Pause.

Rewind.

Pause again.

Wonder where you went wrong.

Our workshops are different.

We slow everything down.

You can watch a demonstration as many times as you need.

If you'd like another explanation, we'll happily show you again.

Questions are always welcome.

Learning becomes far more enjoyable when there isn't any pressure to keep up with everyone else.

Many people tell us:

That's perfectly okay.

Our workshops are designed with beginners in mind.

We'll guide you step by step, explaining everything clearly and making sure you feel comfortable before moving on.

By the end of the session you'll have learned new skills, gained confidence and created something you can genuinely be proud of.
