Crochet workshops
Crochet is a wonderfully versatile craft, using just a hook and yarn to create everything from simple squares and blankets to clothing, accessories, toys and decorative pieces. With different stitches, colours, textures and yarns to explore, there are plenty of possibilities whether you are picking up a crochet hook for the first time or looking to develop the skills you already have.
Our crochet workshops are designed to help you build your skills and confidence at your own pace. We have highlighted some of the crochet workshops available here at RE Treats Plymouth below. If the workshop you are looking for isn't currently running, or there is a particular technique you would like to learn, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Crochet Like Granny!
Start right at the beginning by learning how to cast on and fasten off, make a chain and work treble stitches. You’ll practise working in both circles and squares before using your new skills to create traditional granny squares.
Change It Up!
Discover how colour can completely change your crochet as you learn how to change colours confidently and explore different blanket designs. You’ll practise working with individual coloured squares or create one larger piece using different colours, before learning how to join your squares together.
Read All About it!
Develop your stitch knowledge while learning how to work single, double, half double and double crochet stitches and begin reading crochet patterns. You’ll then use these skills to explore decorative blanket edgings and add a finished edge to a blanket.
Style It Out!
Take your crochet further by learning how to increase and decrease stitches and understand how individual crocheted pieces are constructed from a pattern. Put everything together by following a pattern to create a more complex project such as a pair of gloves or a crocheted toy.
Build your skills step by step
Start at the stage that matches your current experience and progress through the workshops as your confidence and skills develop. You don't have to start at the beginning if you already have some experience.
Workshops are kept small, so places are limited on each date.
More ways to learn and create
Once you’ve mastered some of the core crochet skills, there are lots of different directions you can explore. Try new stitches and textures, experiment with colour, discover different construction techniques or use your skills to create something completely different.
From blankets, bags and home accessories to toys, clothing and seasonal projects, our workshops change throughout the year.
