FAQs
Q: Can I bring my own craft project to do in your studio?
RE Treats: Of course, you will need to send us a request by clicking on the button:
Q: Do I have to be skilled to book onto your courses?
RE Treats: That depends on the course you are booking. If you are trying a new skill or don't feel confident in a particular craft, you might want to book on the beginner / introductory level workshop first and build up to advanced / expert.
Q: How do your craft workshops run?
RE Treats: We have our own bespoke craft studio that workshops are run from. You are advised to arrive 10 minutes before the session start time so that you can settle into the space and get comfortable before the workshop starts, we will also provide a hot drink too. At the beginning of the workshop there will be a health and safety briefing (if necessary, depending upon the craft) and then we will get straight into the workshop itself. Most of our workshops run for a morning, afternoon or evening. We will find a suitable point in the workshop to provide light refreshments and to provide opportunities for you to get to know other crafters and ask any questions that you might have. After the break, the workshop will continue and we will have a quick debrief at the end where we might: show our makes, answer questions, discuss "next steps", purchase kits and make sure your handmade items are safely packed away for you to take home.
Our weekend RE Treats / holiday RE Treats run slightly differently because these are more intense craft workshops where we will work on the same craft for a whole weekend. Weekend RE Treats start on a Thursday evening - to allow you time to settle in to your accommodation and craft studio space in preparation for some well earned relaxed craft time. You are welcome to bring your own projects (UFO's) or participate in workshops. The price for our weekend RE Treats includes all meals, accommodation, workshops and your space in the craft studio. For those who want to combine craft with sightseeing - after all Plymouth is a beautiful city, we can accommodate this too. You can craft as much or as little as you want to whilst you are staying with us, all we ask is that you thoroughly enjoy your time with us.
Q: What if I don't like the workshop I have booked onto?
RE Treats: We would advise you to make sure you understand what the workshop you have booked onto entails. Elaine is very experienced and skilled in the workshops offered and will try to find a way to help you enjoy what you have booked onto. If you aren't sure whether you are going to enjoy a new craft, why not book onto our taster sessions instead? These are mini workshops aimed to give an insight into the crafts on offer.
Q: I tried to book onto a workshop but you were fully booked.
RE Treats: Unfortunately, this may happen from time to time. The best way to find out about our latest workshop dates is by signing up to our facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/craftretreatsplymouth or by signing up to our newsletter:
Q: I loved the workshop so much, can I do it again?
RE Treats: Of course! When you book onto the same workshop, please make Elaine aware you have done it before so that where possible, you can undertake a slightly different project to practice the same skills as others attending the workshop.
Q: Do I get a discount if I recommend your workshops to others?
RE Treats: It would be wonderful to think that our RE Treaters enjoyed themselves so much that they wanted to recommend us to others, we would be happy to offer a discount on our workshops in this circumstance.
Q: Do I need to bring my own equipment to a workshop?
RE Treats: That depends on the course you are booking. For some courses it is preferrable for you to use your own equipment - for example sewing machine and machine embroidery courses. The reason for this is that there are so many machines, you want to get the most out of these courses so that you can feel confident continuing to practice skills from the classes at home. For most other classes, the equipment required will be provided but you might want to bring your own kits or embellishments with you too. We will clearly state what is required in the workshop description. Once your workshop booking is confirmed you will receive an email stating what is provided at the workshop and suggestions for equipment you might want to bring along to support your learning.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel the workshop I have booked onto?
RE Treats: We would hope that this isn't necessary as you will have planned to attend the workshop in advance of it taking place. However, we do understand that we are living in unprecedented times. We require 24 hours notice to cancel your booking and transfer you to the next available workshop. If you are unwell on the morning of the workshop please let us know. If you do not attend on the day of the workshop (and you haven't informed us) it is likely you will lose the workshop and your fee. RE Treats reserves the right to apply discretion where appropriate to any of these circumstances.
Q: What happens if you cancel my workshop?
RE Treats: All workshops will go ahead as they are planned around other commitments we have. However, unplanned circumstances do occur! In the event that we have to cancel your workshop due to illness, we will offer another session. If we are asked to stop workshops for a period of time you will be given the option of an online workshop or re-booking your workshop when we can reopen.
Q: How much are your workshops and RE Treats?
RE Treats: That depends on the workshop / RE Treat you are booking! Group workshops generally cost between £40 - £80pp, and RE Treat prices will be individual to each RE Treat because they may vary in length, activity and workshop bookings. All of our workshops and RE Treats pricing will be known prior to booking.
Q: Do you just run workshops and RE Treats?
RE Treats: No! We also design craft kits that can be purchased before, during or after a RE Treat. We will advertise the kits that are relevant to the activities you have undertaken at a workshop but do ask us what other kits are available.
Q: Do I have to be skilled to book onto your courses?
RE Treats: That depends on the course you are booking. If you are trying a new skill or don't feel confident in a particular craft, you might want to book on the beginner / introductory level workshops first and build up to advanced.
