Fancy trying something creative but not sure where to start?
You don't need to know which craft is right for you before you begin. Perhaps you'd simply like to make something, learn a new skill or spend some time being creative, but you're not sure what you'd enjoy.
Have a look at the choices below and see which sounds most like you.
🧶 I like the idea of working with yarn
If you like the thought of creating something from a ball of yarn, knitting or crochet could be a good place to start. Both can be learned from the beginning, so you don't need any previous experience.
🧵 I'd love to make things from fabric
If you're drawn to fabrics and the idea of turning them into something useful or decorative, you might enjoy machine sewing, patchwork or dressmaking.
You can start by learning the basics and develop your skills as your confidence grows.
🪡 I enjoy detail and working with my hands
If you like the idea of creating something stitch by stitch, you might enjoy hand sewing, embroidery or cross stitch.
There are plenty of possibilities for complete beginners as well as opportunities to develop more detailed techniques later.
✂️ I like designing as well as making
If combining creativity with technology appeals to you, Cricut or machine embroidery might be worth exploring.
Both give you opportunities to work with designs and machines to create personalised and decorative projects.
