There are many different styles of hand sewing and embroidery, from traditional techniques to more contemporary and creative approaches. Our workshops use a range of fabrics, threads and techniques and are designed to help you develop your skills progressively, whether you are picking up a needle for the first time or looking to explore more creative and challenging techniques.

Workshops are kept small, so places are limited on each date.

From never stitching before to discovering hand embroidery
Starting point:
This learner had never tried any form of hand stitching before but wanted to learn. As she was starting completely from scratch, Elaine suggested Redwork as an accessible way to introduce her to hand embroidery and some of its fundamental techniques.
Her progress:
During the session, she was introduced to hand stitching for the first time and learned the techniques needed to begin creating her own Redwork embroidery.
What she achieved:
By the end of the session, she had gone from never having stitched before to completing her first hand-embroidery work and having the foundations to continue practising.
What happened next:
Afterwards, she said how much she had enjoyed the session and expressed an interest in learning other hand-sewing techniques.
