There is some disagreement over the basic stitches required for hand sewing because some stitches are a variation of others. However, at RE Treats we believe in teaching all of the basic stitches so that you can apply them to any of your future projects. The stitches taught in this workshop are: running stitch, basting stitch, back stitch, slip stitch, whip stitch, cross stitch, chain stitch and blanket stitch.
During the workshop you will be taught how to create each of these stitches and have an opportunity to practice them on a sampler. You will then be able to choose from a selection of simple designs to begin creating a basic stitches masterpiece.
Workshops last approximately 3 hours and cost £60. All thread, materials and patterns are provided on the day. If you have a basic sewing kit please bring this along with you or click the link to order one through Amazon: https://amzn.to/3pjzTFT

Cross stitch is another example of hand embroidery, the beauty of cross stitch is that the designs are created from one main, basic stitch - a 'X'. The shaping of the picture occurs through 'fractional' stitches (part crosses) and back stitch to create the outline. The trick with cross stitch is knowing where to start your design and how to read the pattern - known as a chart.
If you have always wanted to learn to create cross stitch embroideries, book onto this course - we will have you stitching in no time at all. We will also explain the different fabrics, threads and embellishments used in this type of work and show you the possibilities available in ready made charts and photographs. Workshops last approximately 3 hours and cost £50.
You don't have to have undertaken any embroidery courses prior to attending this course. All fabric, thread and charts are provided on the day. A basic sewing kit would be useful, (see the link on First stitches). If you want to start or add to your cross stitch supplies, have a look at this deal on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3lySInw
